JAKARTA, July 20, 2026 – To expand access to quality education services, the government, through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE), is rolling out the Integrated National School (Sekolah Nasional Terintegrasi/SNT) program. This strategic initiative aims to establish nationally standardized, integrated educational institutions that serve as hubs for educational quality development across various regions. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, emphasized that the SNT program is not merely about building new schools, but about delivering quality educational services closer to communities while acting as regional hubs for educational advancement. "SNT is a state initiative to bring quality educational services closer to children in the regions, optimally develop students' potential, interests, talents, character, and skills, and serve as a growth catalyst for educational quality in surrounding schools," the Minister stated in Jakarta on Monday (7/20). The SNT model integrates junior high school and senior high school levels into a single, sustainable educational ecosystem. This integration encompasses not only educational tiers and physical facilities, but also learning processes, teacher development, character building, talent nurturing, facility utilization, and quality assurance systems. The implementation of SNT relies on three main transformations: infrastructure transformation, human resource transformation, and learning and character transformation. The Minister stressed that SNTs are not designed to grow in isolation, but rather to act as catalysts for raising educational standards in their respective regions. These schools must serve as partners to surrounding institutions through learning laboratories, shared facilities and learning resources, the dissemination of best practices, school partnerships and mentoring, and continuous teacher competency development. "The success of SNT is measured not only by the achievements of the students enrolled in these schools, but also by the professional growth of teachers, increased inter-school collaboration, and the rising quality of education across the region," the Minister asserted. To support the operations of the 17 SNTs launching in the 2026/2027 academic year, the government has prepared transition classrooms. These utilize new buildings such as those in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), Ministry technical implementation units (Unit Pelaksana Teknis/UPT), or other learning facilities provided by local governments. Prospective students will be drawn from the local areas where the SNTs are located, ensuring that these schools genuinely expand access to quality education for local communities. The Minister urged the public to obtain information regarding SNTs through official Ministry channels, regional governments, education offices, or the official SNT portal. He also warned that no party has the authority to promise admission or profit from the student admission process outside of established regulations. The Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Non-Formal and Informal Education, Gogot Suharwoto, explained that SNTs are designed to support optimal student growth through modern facilities such as smart classrooms, green schools, international-standard laboratories, future learning commons and libraries, creative arts studios, teacher development centers, sports centers, and regional shuttle transport services. Additionally, SNTs will develop a three-tier curriculum: the national curriculum as a foundation, a school-specific curriculum as reinforcement, and a locally contextualized curriculum tailored to the characteristics of each region. Consequently, each SNT will possess unique strengths, such as agriculture, fisheries, coding and artificial intelligence, or other regional potentials. "In the future, each SNT will have unique characteristics tailored to local potential. A STEAMS-based learning approach will be combined with deep learning, supported by digitalized learning and global standard enrichment," Gogot explained. Meanwhile, Deputy III of the Presidential Staff Office, Yan Hiksas, expressed his support for the Integrated National School program. He noted that the program embodies the state's presence in preparing an exceptional Indonesian generation capable of competing globally. He expressed hope that SNTs will "We believe that Indonesia's future will rely not only on incredible natural resources, but also on creative and innovative individuals, who will certainly be cultivated within integrated national schools," he concluded.
