The Ministry of Education and Culture has set a deadline for registration for foreign workers in 2026, starting on July 27, 2026.

Jakarta, July 7, 2026 – The Primary and Secondary Education Policy Agency (BKPDM), Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), has adjusted the registration schedule for the 2026 Academic Ability Test (TKA) and National Assessment (AN) for senior high schools (SMA/MA/equivalent) and vocational high schools (SMK/MAK). The registration period, which previously began on August 18, 2026, has been moved forward to July 27-September 27, 2026, three weeks earlier than originally planned.

Head of BKPDM Toni Toharudin explained that the adjustment was made to provide more time for educational units to update student data after the Education Master Data (Dapodik) system will reopen on July 15, 2026. Thus, it is hoped that no students will be left behind because their data has not been updated.

"We want to ensure that the data used in the implementation of the TKA and the National Assessment is truly the most recent, so that no students who are actually entitled are not included in the system because their data has not been updated," said Toni in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/7).

He added that a longer registration period would open up greater opportunities for educational institutions to recruit participants who have not yet been registered, especially in areas with limited network access or a shortage of school operators.

"Data quality will certainly determine the assessment results. Once Dapodik opens on July 15, we will ask educational institutions to immediately verify and update the data. They won't need to wait until the registration deadline approaches," he added.

The implementation of TKA and AN in 2026 refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Number 9 of 2025 concerning Academic Ability Tests, Regulation of the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Number 9 of 2026 concerning Amendments to Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 17 of 2021 concerning National Assessments, Decree of the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Number 56 of 2026 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Academic Ability Tests and National Assessments, and Decree of the Head of BKPDM Number 017/F/AN/2026 concerning Technical Instructions for the Implementation of Academic Ability Tests and National Assessments for central-level organizers, regional-level organizers, and educational unit-level organizers.

As a follow-up to the policy, BKPDM has also issued Letter of the Head of BKPDM Number 0212/B/F/SK.02.02/2026 dated July 1, 2026 concerning the Implementation of TKA and AN for SMA/MA/equivalent, SMK/MAK levels, and Learning Environment Surveys for Heads of Educational Units and Educators in 2026.

The letter has been submitted to the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Provinces throughout Indonesia, Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia Abroad, Education and Culture Attachés of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia Abroad, Heads of Provincial Education Offices, and Heads of Regency/City Education Offices throughout Indonesia as a reference for the implementation of TKA and AN.

Based on the latest schedule, registration for TKA and AN participants will take place from July 27 to September 27, 2026. The simulation will be held from September 21 to 27, 2026, followed by a dress rehearsal from October 5 to 18, 2026. The main implementation of TKA and AN will take place in stages from October 26 to November 8, 2026 according to the wave division, while the follow-up implementation is scheduled for November 16 to 29, 2026.

"We hope that local governments, educational institutions, school operators, and educators will act quickly to take advantage of this additional time. Having organized data from the outset will make the implementation of the TKA and National Assessment more orderly, and more importantly, ensure that no student is denied the right to participate in these assessments simply because of administrative issues," he concluded.*** (Author & Documentation: BKPDM Team)
