Digitalization Reaches 9,000 Schools in NTT, Committing to Quality Education for All

Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, May 6, 2026 – As a 2025 achievement, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) successfully completed 576 schools resulting from the Revitalization of Educational Units and distributed 9,019 Interactive Flat Panels (IFP) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. The 2025 revitalization program in NTT was completed with a total budget of more than IDR 589 billion, covering 43 PAUD, 234 SD, 174 SMP, 64 SMA, 44 SMK, 9 SLB, and 8 PKBM.

"In addition to building and renovating school buildings, we also distributed 9,019 IFPs to support technology-based learning transformation in NTT, covering 907 PAUDs, 5,244 elementary schools, 1,870 junior high schools, 609 senior high schools, 306 vocational schools, 49 special schools, 16 special education centers, and 18 community development centers," said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti, when inaugurating the revitalization at SMAN 9 Kupang, Tuesday (5/5).

Minister Mu'ti explained that the program's achievements are part of President Prabowo Subianto's directive to create a Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful (ASRI) educational environment. Furthermore, citing President Prabowo's directive at SMAN 1 Cilacap in late April, all schools in Indonesia are targeted to be revitalized by 2028.

"We are optimistic that through improving infrastructure, strengthening the quality of learning, and building character, NTT can become a driving force for the national education revival. Just as the sun always rises in the east, hopefully, the revival of education can also begin in NTT," said Minister Mu'ti.

Responding to the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education's prayers and hopes, NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena expressed his appreciation for the Ministry's support for the Education Unit Revitalization and Learning Digitalization programs in NTT. He stated that the achievement of 576 education units and 9,019 IFPs serves as a boost to strengthen the quality of education in the region.

Governor Melki added that for 2026, NTT Province has proposed three times the 2025 target. This high proposal reflects the region's enthusiasm for improving the quality of educational facilities and infrastructure.

"What our student, Verona Keren Balol, did was deeply touching and reinforced the message of education in NTT. This is certainly in line with the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education's directive on National Education Day 2026, which encourages the use of arts and culture as learning media," said Governor Melki.

On this occasion, Governor Melki emphasized that the NTT Provincial Government continues to develop education based on three main pillars: academic quality, character building, and strengthening entrepreneurship. "I hope that with the robust infrastructure in place, NTT graduates and students will not only excel academically but also possess the character and creativity to build a better NTT," he explained.

A total of 98 educational units receiving the 2025 revitalization program from Kupang City, Kupang Regency, and South Central Timor Regency were present to receive the plaque signed by Minister Abdul Mu'ti. The inauguration ceremony was also held online, with all recipients of the 2025 revitalization program throughout NTT present via Zoom and a live broadcast on the Ministry of Education and Culture's YouTube channel.*** (Author: Destian/Editor: Denty A., Seno H./Photographer: Ikram)
