Purworejo Regency, Central Java, January 24, 2026 - The Education Unit Revitalization Program is being rolled out massively and evenly, not only targeting big cities, but also regencies and underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. One of them is in Purworejo Regency, where efforts to equalize education services are strengthened through the revitalization of 20 educational units from various levels from 3 Kindergartens/Preschools, 7 Elementary Schools, 6 Junior High Schools, 2 Senior High Schools, and 2 Vocational High Schools to ensure that every child receives a decent, safe, and quality learning space.
On that occasion, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, has inaugurated 20 Revitalized Educational Units in Purworejo Regency, while emphasizing that the Revitalization of Educational Units is one of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs in order to improve the quality of educational services and strengthen the foundation of Indonesia's human resource development. "Revitalizing Educational Units is not just building buildings, but building the future of our children. In 2025, the government will revitalize 16,171 educational units throughout Indonesia, and more than 98 percent of the construction has been completed," said Minister Mu'ti in Purworejo Regency, on Saturday (24/1).
He explained that safe and comfortable schools are essential prerequisites for effective and meaningful learning. "We want children to learn in an environment free from violence and bullying, and in a clean, healthy, and appropriate space. Therefore, the government issued Minister of Education Regulation No. 6 of 2026 as a foundation for building a safe and comfortable school culture throughout Indonesia," he emphasized.
Beyond physical revitalization, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is also pushing to accelerate the digitalization of learning. To date, more than 288,000 educational units have received Interactive Digital Boards (IFPs) as digital learning tools. "We're not just distributing IFPs, but also training teachers, providing laptops and learning materials, and even assisting schools without internet access and electricity. Digitalization must impact the learning process, not just the tools," he explained.
For 2026, the government has allocated a budget for approximately 11,700 educational institutions and will propose an additional 60,000, bringing the total to over 71,000 educational institutions receiving the digitalization program. Each school will also receive three additional IFPs to gradually realize the concept of "one classroom, one digital device."
The Regent of Purworejo, Yuli Hastuti, expressed her appreciation to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for its support in revitalizing educational institutions in the region. She emphasized that the central government's support has been a significant boost for the Purworejo Regency Government in improving the quality of educational services. What was revitalized, renovated were seven classrooms complete with furniture, there are student desks and chairs, there are teacher desks and chairs, there are whiteboards, there are cupboards," said Warno.
He stated that the new classrooms have had a positive impact on the students' learning environment. We hope that with these new classrooms, the children will be more enthusiastic and motivated to learn, achieve success, and develop positive personalities," he said.
The same sentiment was echoed by the Principal of SDN 2 Cepedak, Purworejo Regency, Verica, who stated that her school received the Education Unit Revitalization Program, which included the construction and rehabilitation of several essential facilities this year. The school received a new school health center (UKS) building, as well as the rehabilitation of classrooms, offices, a library, and bathrooms, which were previously limited and not yet fully usable. " Thank God, this year we received assistance in the form of a new UKS building, as well as the rehabilitation of classrooms, offices, a library, and bathrooms.
