The 2026 Revitalization Program will reach 35,769 schools through self-management, with completion targeted for the end of the year.

Jakarta, October 15, 2026 - Improvements to school facilities and infrastructure through the 2026 Educational Unit Revitalization program continue to show positive results. In 2026, this program reached 35,769 educational units at the early childhood education (PAUD), elementary, junior high, and senior high schools (SMP) levels across Indonesia through a self-managed scheme. As of October 2026, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) recorded that 4,374 schools had completed the construction process.

The Education Unit Revitalization Program is mandated by Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2025 and is part of the Fastest Best Results Program (PHTC) implemented by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. This year, the government allocated a budget of Rp 26 trillion to support and implement the program.

The distribution of aid funds continues. To date, approximately IDR 20 trillion has been received by beneficiaries. The revitalization program includes not only the renovation of existing school buildings but also the construction of new school units (USB), consisting of 66 early childhood education centers (PAUD) and 28 senior high schools (SMA).

Program implementation in several regions has shown mixed progress. In Aceh, for example, hundreds of schools have completed construction. Meanwhile, in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Jakarta, construction is still underway at several educational institutions.

In Aceh Province, this program covers 2,891 educational units at the early childhood education (PAUD), elementary, junior high, and senior high schools (SMP), with a total budget of IDR 2.5 trillion. Funding disbursement has reached approximately IDR 2.1 trillion, or 83 percent of the total budget. In terms of physical construction, 755 schools have completed construction. Another 615 schools are at 70 to below 100 percent progress, while 578 schools have reached 50–70 percent progress.

Furthermore, the revitalization program in NTT has reached 1,660 educational institutions with a budget of Rp1.3 trillion. Approximately Rp1 trillion has been disbursed. In terms of physical construction, 205 schools are at 50–70 percent progress. The program also includes the construction of six early childhood education centers (PAUD) and one high school (SMA) as USB school units.

In Jakarta Province, the revitalization program is being implemented in 114 educational institutions at the early childhood education (PAUD), elementary, middle, and high school levels, with a total budget of Rp61 billion. Funding disbursement has reached approximately Rp48 billion, or 78.7 percent. Twenty-one schools have completed construction, while 46 others are still at 25 percent construction progress. One of these PAUDs is currently under construction at the USB (School of Kindergarten) level.

In this regard, the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Non-Formal and Informal Education, Gogot Suharwoto, emphasized the importance of providing appropriate learning spaces to support the learning process. "Safe and comfortable classrooms are a prerequisite for effective learning," said Director General Gogot Suharwoto in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/14).

Providing adequate facilities and infrastructure is a crucial aspect in supporting teaching and learning activities. Therefore, revitalization in each educational unit must consider the school's needs and the quality of the development outcomes so that the benefits can be felt by students and the school community.

Through this program, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is promoting the provision of more suitable learning environments in various regions of Indonesia. Development tailored to the needs of educational units is expected to support teaching and learning activities while improving the quality of educational services.

For your information, 35,769 educational institutions have entered into Cooperation Agreements (PKS) under the Education Unit Revitalization program through the regular phase and the first phase of the Additional Budget (ABT). Of these, 17,272 early childhood education (PAUD) institutions have entered into PKS with a total budget of over IDR 7 trillion. At the elementary school level, 11,529 schools have also entered into PKS with a total budget of over IDR 11 trillion.
