IFP is more than just TV, making it easier for students to learn and understand the material.

Metro, Lampung, October 9, 2026 - The use of Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) or Interactive Digital Boards (PIDs) provides a more engaging learning experience for students. Through technology, teachers can present material visually, integrate various digital media, and engage students directly in learning.

Badrun, an Islamic Education teacher at SMPN 9 Metro, Lampung, utilizes PID at every stage of learning, from initial activities and core material delivery to assessments. He combines Google, YouTube, Canva, Wayground, and Wordwall.net to enrich the presentation and foster classroom interaction.

"I utilize PID in religious studies as a learning tool that strengthens the interaction process with students through its features, both in the initial session, the main session, and the assessment media," said Badrun, Thursday (8/10).

According to him, the use of digital media also makes it easier for teachers to present facts from the field to reinforce concepts. Students are also more enthusiastic when given the opportunity to use the devices directly. "Students are more interested, especially when they are invited to directly participate in using the PID. This reduces the tendency for students to become sleepy and talk to themselves because the presentation is more varied and interactive," he said.

The students shared similar experiences. They found PID made learning more enjoyable and helped them understand previously difficult-to-understand material. "PID makes learning more engaging, making us understand the material better, and making it easier to digest," said seventh-grade student Mezzaluna Azzury.

Furthermore, students also benefit from visualization when learning material that requires concrete examples. The images and displays on the IFP/PID help them build understanding before practicing or delving deeper into the material. "If the teacher explained it one-way, before the PID, it would have been confusing. With the PID, I have a visual representation, making it more coherent," said another seventh-grade student, Ratu Qimora, who previously thought the IFP/PID was just a regular flat-screen TV.

The use of PIDs at SMPN 9 still rotates depending on class needs. Another student, Rizna Aurora Putri, hopes to see more devices available and more diverse materials to make learning more engaging.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to support the digitalization of learning. During his visit to the school, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, stated that by 2025, Lampung would receive 9,907 IFP units and 9,887 laptops, with an IFP budget of Rp329.1 billion. Last year, specifically in Metro City, digitalization of learning was realized with the allocation of 193 IFP units and 193 laptops with a total budget of Rp6.4 billion.

Furthermore, this year, the government also plans to add three IFPs to each school. "This year, all schools will receive three additional IFPs," he said.

The Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education hopes that through the planned use of technology, PID can become a tool to deliver more lively learning, help students understand the material, and encourage enthusiasm for learning.
