The Ministry of Education and Culture Accelerates Educator Capacity Building Through Technical Guidance on Early Childhood Education Digitalization

Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, October 9, 2026 – Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen), Atip Latipulhayat, stated that the development of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) is part of President Prabowo Subianto's priority program in supporting the acceleration of 13 years of compulsory education, rehabilitation of physical facilities, instilling basic character, daily ethics, and clean living habits from an early age.

This was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Atip at the opening of the first batch of Technical Guidance (Bimtek) activities for the Digitalization of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. "This is one of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs, a massive and rapid response to accelerate the quality of our education, starting with early childhood education. That's why the physical facilities of early childhood education are being rehabilitated," explained Atip Latipulhayat on Wednesday (October 7).

Deputy Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Atip also reminded teachers that technological advancements are a supporting tool, not the ultimate goal of the learning process. The use of Interactive Digital Boards (IFPs) must foster active three-way collaboration between teachers, students, and technology. This interaction will ultimately lead to creativity and innovation.

"Technology is not really the goal, but rather a medium, a tool to achieve the aforementioned educational goal, namely quality education," said Atip Latipulhayat.

Through this technical guidance, early childhood education teachers are expected to facilitate children's intense curiosity in an interactive and enjoyable way, while simultaneously integrating national character building from the earliest stages of education. "We must not leave empty space for children's curiosity at an age when it is so intense," explained Deputy Minister Atip.

On the same occasion, the Director of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), Kurniawan, explained that the pillar of increasing educator capacity through Technical Guidance is a crucial focus so that the facilities provided do not stop as mere physical facilities.

"This Digitalization of Learning Technical Guidance is designed not only to provide knowledge about devices, but primarily to improve educators' competency in designing and implementing learning that integrates technology, pedagogy, and learning objectives," explained Kurniawan.

Kurniawan added that the 2026 Early Childhood Education (PAUD) Digitalization Learning program is built on three main, mutually reinforcing pillars: the provision of PID, the provision of interactive digital teaching materials, and the enhancement of educator capacity through technical guidance.

"Thus, we are not only building early childhood education centers (PAUD) with digital devices, but also PAUDs that are able to utilize technology appropriately to strengthen the quality of children's interactions, experiences, and learning processes," said Kurniawan.

For 2026, the Early Childhood Education Directorate targets distributing advanced PIDs to 75,974 early childhood education units that have undergone verification and validation. Participants in this first batch of technical guidance are expected to become driving forces, mentoring their colleagues and disseminating good practices in their respective regions.

The first batch of the Early Childhood Education Digitalization Training in Mataram took place from October 7 to 9, 2026. The training was attended by 181 early childhood education units receiving PID (Public Education Identification Card) training, representing 39 districts/cities in the provinces of West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Bali.
