Bandung, West Java, September 29, 2026 – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to strengthen Pancasila education as a pillar of character and personality development for students. In line with this, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, emphasized that strengthening Pancasila education is carried out not only through classroom learning, but also through school culture, extracurricular activities, habituation, and students' real-life experiences.
In the Academic Workshop Seminar with the theme "Pancasila as the Philosophy and Foundation of the State: Strengthening Pancasila Education in the National Education System", Minister Abdul Mu'ti said that Pancasila education needs to be understood as a whole through three aspects, namely knowledge of Pancasila, the practice of Pancasila values in real life, and the internalization of Pancasila as the personality of the Indonesian nation.
According to him, Pancasila learning needs to be continuously developed to ensure it doesn't stop at the knowledge aspect. Therefore, reinforcement is carried out through in- depth learning and optimization of the hidden curriculum , so that Pancasila values can be present in various activities and culture at school.
"We want to further strengthen the hidden curriculum . So, we now have a deep learning policy, where we strive to strengthen the context and implementation of these subjects," said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday (September 29).
Through this approach, schools are expected to become spaces that provide students with real-life experiences in practicing the values of Pancasila. Teacher-student interactions, student relationships, and various school activities are crucial in building a culture that reflects national life.
In addition to education, strengthening nationalism is carried out through extracurricular activities and habituation. Scouting is one means of strengthening character, while various extracurricular options can also provide opportunities for students to develop skills outside of formal education.
"We believe that we need to expand the range of extracurricular options available. Students can develop skills and abilities beyond the subjects taught in formal education," he said.
The Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education is also strengthening the implementation of flag ceremonies and activities on national holidays. During these activities, students are encouraged to internalize national values through the Indonesian Student Pledge, which encompasses faith and piety, respect for parents and teachers, dedication to learning, harmony with friends, and love for the homeland.
This strengthening is increasingly important because the values of Pancasila need to be embodied in everyday behavior. Love for Indonesia, for example, needs to be reflected in concern for the environment, respect for diversity, the ability to live together, and attitudes that reflect unity.
"Attitudes like these can be fostered if students have extensive experience in educational institutions that practice the values of Pancasila," the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education continued.
By strengthening learning, school culture, role models, habits, and collaborative activities, Pancasila education is expected to become more meaningful for students. These efforts are part of a shared commitment to developing a generation of Indonesians with character, respect for diversity, love for their homeland, and are ready to contribute to the nation's progress.
The Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education is optimistic that education that integrates knowledge and values will deliver more meaningful learning experiences. With the support of teachers, schools, families, and the entire education ecosystem, it is hoped that the values of Pancasila will grow into a part of students' lives and equip them for a future of Indonesia that is advanced, united, sovereign, just, and prosperous.
