Cirebon, West Java, September 29, 2026 — The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, personally inspected the revitalization progress of SDN 1 Kedungjaya in Kedawung District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, on Monday (September 28). The revitalization of the school, a merger of two elementary schools, received government assistance of Rp1.8 billion.
The revitalization targets in Cirebon Regency for the 2026 Fiscal Year have increased compared to the previous year. This year, the revitalization program targets 190 schools with a total budget of Rp114.4 billion for early childhood education (PAUD), elementary, middle, and high schools. Meanwhile, in 2025, the Education Unit Revitalization program will target 59 schools with a total budget of Rp63.1 billion.
Specifically for SDN 1 Kedungjaya, a budget of Rp 1.8 billion is being used to build and renovate 12 classrooms, two administration rooms, a library, and nine restrooms. Construction progress is currently around 40 percent complete and is targeted for completion within the next two months. "This is a merger of two merged elementary schools. Hopefully, this revitalization will make the learning facilities more representative and better," said Abdul Mu'ti.
He stated that the construction was carried out independently, involving the principal, the surrounding community, and the School Construction Committee. During the construction, students participated in temporary teaching and learning activities in the village's multipurpose building and the madrasah.
The government is also implementing a phased revitalization process, prioritizing schools with severe damage. "We continue to prioritize schools with severe damage," said Abdul Mu'ti.
Cirebon Regent Imron Rosyadi stated that the revitalization of SDN 1 Kedungjaya is part of the regional educational infrastructure development program. "The Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education visited Kedungjaya Elementary School to directly observe the rehabilitation of our school, including the renovation of 12 classrooms, two administrative rooms, and nine restrooms," Imron said.
The principal of SDN 1 Kedungjaya, Lilis Mariyam, expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Cirebon Regency Government for their assistance with the school revitalization program. She noted that the program has been instrumental in improving the quality of educational facilities and infrastructure, particularly following the merger of the two schools into SDN 1 Kedungjaya.
"We are very grateful for this revitalization assistance. This program is a very significant support for our school in providing a safer, more comfortable, and more representative learning environment for students and teachers," he said.
He also commended the self-managed revitalization process, which involved the school, the surrounding community, and the School Development Committee. He believes the involvement of these various parties fosters a sense of togetherness and responsibility in the development process.
"Self-managed implementation provides an opportunity for schools and the community to be directly involved in the revitalization process.
