Jakarta, September 26, 2026 – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Ditjen GTK) carried out the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the Implementation of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) in 2026, together with the organizing Education Personnel Education Institution (LPTK), Thursday (24/9).
The event was attended by 164 rectors and heads of LPTK (Teaching and Training Institutions) and PPG (Teaching and Training for Teachers) study program coordinators from across Indonesia. LPTKs are higher education institutions/university units that provide education to prepare and improve the professionalism of teachers and education personnel. LPTKs act as partners with the Ministry of Education and Culture in implementing PPG.
In his directive, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, urged all PPG organizers to utilize the program as a means to produce teachers who serve not only as agents of learning but also as agents of civilization. The primary principle of teaching is inspiration, grounded in sincerity, character building, and exemplary behavior.
"A teacher who can be respected and emulated, a teacher whose every word is a lesson, whose every behavior is an inspiring example, that is what I can call teaching is inspiring," said Minister Abdul Mu'ti.
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education also emphasized that the implementation of the PPG must bring about real-world transformation, not just the formality of graduating and obtaining certification. He requested that PPG graduates be professional teachers in their fields.
"Let's make this program not just a formality, but a process that will make all Indonesian teachers more professional," said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.
On the same occasion, the Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Dirjen GTK), Nunuk Suryani, stated that the signing of this PKS represents a joint commitment between the Directorate General of GTK and the organizing LPTKs to complete the PPG for certain teachers and prepare prospective teachers. It also demonstrates the synergy and universal participation of the government, LPTKs, and stakeholders to realize Quality Education for All for all Indonesian children.
"We believe that today's signing of the PKS is a concrete manifestation of universal participation. This synergy between the government, LPTK (Teaching and Training Institutions), and all education stakeholders is working together to ensure quality education for all Indonesian children without exception," explained GTK Director General Nunuk Suryani.
Regarding the current challenges, Director General Nunuk highlighted the uneven implementation of PPG, as some provinces still lack LPTKs. Therefore, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is encouraging 164 partner LPTKs to contribute to meeting teacher needs based on the number, competency, and distribution required by the regions.
"Going forward, we want the implementation of PPG to be increasingly based on national and regional needs. We will encourage LPTKs with strong capacity and track records to take on a greater role in the required fields of study," concluded Director General Nunuk.
