The Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) are strengthening financial literacy through free teaching materials at the Education House.

Jakarta, September 26, 2026 – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) are strengthening financial literacy by providing free teaching materials through the Education Center (Rumah Pendidikan). The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) at the culmination of the 2026 Indonesia Sharia Financial Olympiad (ISFO) at the Kemendikdasmen Plaza Insan Berprestasi (Achieving Achievers) in Jakarta on Thursday (September 24).

The teaching materials integrate financial literacy into various learning contexts, ranging from personal financial management, financial institutions, and the digital economy to financial planning, investment, loans, and budget management.

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, expressed his appreciation for the Financial Services Authority (OJK)'s (OJK) trust in the Ministry as a partner in developing the Islamic economy and strengthening financial literacy through education. "The book on Islamic financial literacy compiled by the OJK is part of the materials that can be accessed free of charge by students, teachers, and the entire community. Hopefully, this will not only improve literacy skills for our students but also encourage productivity, inclusion, and the nation's progress and prosperity, with the Islamic economy as one of its pillars," said Minister Abdul Mu'ti.

On the Rumah Pendidikan platform, financial literacy teaching materials are available as teaching aids in the Teachers and Education Personnel (GTK) Room. Several of these teaching materials have been curated by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and were developed by the Curriculum and Learning Center in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). These include "Managing Personal Finances," "Financial Management of Committee Activities," "Financial Institutions," "Rows and Series," "Digital Economy," and "Data Analysis and Opportunities." These materials integrate financial literacy into Economics and Mathematics lessons and co-curricular activities.

Minister Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that education plays a crucial role in developing the understanding of the younger generation, while the provision of supporting facilities and access is carried out in collaboration with strategic partners such as the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. "My job as Minister of Primary and Secondary Education is to educate children so they understand. But it is Mr. Ferry and the gentlemen at the OJK who are opening up various access points. This is what we want to build going forward," he emphasized.

From the regulatory perspective, Dicky Kartikoyono, Chief Executive of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), for Supervision of Business Conduct, Education, and Consumer Protection, stated that the collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture is aimed at developing a broad strategy for Sharia financial literacy and inclusion through formal education. "The goal is to develop a broad strategy for how our society, from a young age in elementary and secondary education, understands Sharia finance," said Dicky.

Dicky added that the collaboration also includes strengthening teaching materials, curricula, and training for teachers. He believes that the younger generation's understanding of financial services and products needs to be developed along with increasing access to digital financial services.

The Minister of Cooperatives and the Daily Chair of the Central Board of the Islamic Economic Community (PP MES), Ferry Juliantono, appreciated the collaboration between the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and various parties in organizing ISFO 2026. "We hope that this collaboration can create young entrepreneurs who will play a major role in the utilization and development of the Islamic economy in Indonesia," explained Ferry.

At ISFO 2026, 11,952 participants from 4,030 teams participated in a series of activities from various regions across Indonesia. The number of participants grew by approximately 12 percent compared to the previous year, while the number of teams increased by approximately 15 percent.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen students' understanding of financial choices and risks and foster habits of wise, safe, and responsible decision-making. The government is optimistic that providing financial literacy from an early age will produce Indonesian students who not only excel academically but are also productive, creating added economic value, and are resilient in facing the challenges of the digital era.
