Jakarta, August 16, 2025 – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) will not tolerate fraud or misappropriation of funds and will take firm action against individuals found to be profiting from the school revitalization program. This program is no ordinary project, but rather a concrete manifestation of the state's responsibility to ensure safe, adequate, and quality education.
The Director General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education (Dirjen PAUD Dikdasmen) at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Gogot Suharwoto, emphasized that schools are given full authority to design, spend, and account for their budgets in a transparent and accountable manner, with direct support from the community and professionals. "Self-management is nothing new—this approach has been used for more than 20 years within the school-based management (SBM) framework," explained Director General Gogot.
Referring to the explanation and responding to allegations of extortion (pungli) on school revitalization funds in several kindergartens in West Java, the Director General of Gogot explained that the two schools were the targets of the proposed SK stage 2 according to the results of confirmation from the district education office.
Furthermore, based on clarification obtained by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education team via telephone, the school principal stated that there was no information whatsoever or any party requesting extortion. Furthermore, the local education office has also investigated the case and found no evidence of extortion.
