Jeju, South Korea, May 14, 2025 - In one of the agendas of the 7th APEC Education Ministers Meeting (AEMM), the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti along with several Ministers of Education from other countries attended a multilateral meeting with the Minister of Education of South Korea, Lee Ju-ho who is also the Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea.
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) conveyed the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's (Kemendikdasmen) vision of Quality Education for All, along with several priority programs, such as 13 years of compulsory education starting from kindergarten and the digitalization of education. According to Minister Mu'ti, digitalization of education is one way to realize the vision of Quality Education for All amidst the various challenges facing the education ecosystem.
"Digitalization of education, which includes artificial intelligence (AI), coding, and deep learning, is our effort to provide quality education for all," he said.
Abdul Mu'ti added that currently there is already cooperation between the Indonesian Government and the South Korean Government, one of which is through the South Korean Enuma Team in the form of a learning platform for early childhood.
Responding to the statement, Minister Lee Ju-ho expressed interest in collaborating with Indonesia, particularly in implementing digital learning. The South Korean government is committed to partnering with Indonesia in advancing education, including supporting the vision of Quality Education for All through digitalization of learning so that educational services can also reach communities in remote or underdeveloped areas.
Minister Lee Ju-ho shared his experience in South Korea's education advancement. He stated that South Korea faces similar challenges in providing equal education in remote areas, such as Jeju. He also discussed the challenges faced in these situations and potential solutions.
