Bandung, September 15, 2026 — The future of a nation is determined not only by the policies made today, but also by the quality of the younger generation who will carry on the leadership. Therefore, building the capacity of young people now is a crucial part of preparing for Indonesia's future.

This message was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat, when closing the Youth Civilization Summit 2026, a series of the 1st National Working Conference (Muskernas) of PP Pemuda PERSIS, at the Merdeka Building, Bandung, West Java, Saturday (12/9).

According to Deputy Minister Atip, the younger generation needs to be prepared not only to become successors but also to become actors capable of responding to the various challenges of the times. Therefore, a spirit of action must go hand in hand with the ability to think, analyze problems, and generate ideas.

He emphasized the importance of two strengths within the younger generation: activism and intellectualism. Activism empowers young people to be present and take a role in society, while intellectualism equips them with the skills to understand issues and determine the direction of change. "The face and future of the nation in the next ten years will be determined by its youth today," he said.

He reminded the younger generation that self-confidence also needs to be built on a strong foundation. Optimism alone is insufficient without concrete abilities and capabilities. "From now on, cultivate solid self-confidence based on real abilities and capabilities to establish the foundations of civilization in the future," he continued.

This message has broader relevance in the context of Indonesia's human resource development. Amidst technological change, social dynamics, and increasingly complex global challenges, the younger generation needs both knowledge and character to adapt and contribute meaningfully.

For the world of education, capacity building goes beyond academic achievement. Education also plays a role in fostering self-confidence, critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration, and the courage to take on roles in society.

Through this forum, Deputy Minister Atip encouraged the younger generation to go beyond mere spectators of change. He argued that young people need to develop skills that will enable them to present ideas, work effectively, and take responsibility for the future they desire.

Because, ultimately, the quality of today's young generation is a long-term investment for Indonesia.
