Bangkalan, East Java, September 20, 2026 – The Bangkalan Regency Government appreciates the support of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through the Education Unit Revitalization program, which is considered to benefit schools in need. Bangkalan is one of the regions with the largest revitalization allocation in East Java as part of the government's efforts to improve the equity and quality of education services.
The Regent of Bangkalan, Lukman Hakim, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, which he considered to provide hope for schools in Bangkalan to improve the quality of educational services and support the improvement of the quality of human resources in the region.
"The Education Unit Revitalization Program implemented by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education provides hope and benefits to schools in need. For this support, we express our deepest appreciation to the Deputy Minister, or in this case, the Ministry of Education and Culture, for their extraordinary attention to Bangkalan Regency," said Regent Lukman.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen), Fajar Riza Ul Haq, stated that Bangkalan Regency is one of the areas receiving the largest revitalization allocation in East Java during a working visit to Bangkalan Regency, Thursday (17/9). Increasing revitalization support for Bangkalan is part of the government's commitment to addressing educational inequality by providing equal access to quality education, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to accelerate improvements in the quality of education services throughout Indonesia.
"The increased revitalization assistance for Bangkalan Regency actually reflects the central government's commitment, as expressed by the President, to address educational inequality. We start with equal access to quality education, and we hope that the school improvements we've made will have a greater impact on quality. Therefore, there must be a correlation between physical and non-physical improvements," explained Deputy Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq.
In implementing the Education Unit Revitalization program, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education applies the core principles of self-management and community empowerment. Each project involves an average of 10 to 15 local workers and uses locally sourced building materials. The program not only supports the improvement of school facilities but also stimulates the community's economy.
"Last year, we evaluated it. By 2025, we could recruit over 200,000 workers, with budgets varying depending on the level of damage, from Rp100 million to over Rp1 billion," said the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.
To ensure the benefits of the revitalization are sustainable, Regent Lukman urged school principals receiving the revitalization assistance program to maintain the repaired facilities by utilizing maintenance funds such as the School Operational Assistance Fund (BOS). "It's our duty to maintain what has been built, don't let the paint fade after a year. At least it's already in the BOS budget, right, so maintenance must also be considered.
