Jakarta, September 17, 2026 — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is opening the selection of Teachers and Education Personnel for Indonesian Schools Abroad (SILN) as well as Permanent Educators at Community Learning Centers (CLC) in 2026. This selection is aimed at meeting the need for human resources in education more precisely based on the formation, competencies, and characteristics of educational units abroad.
Of the 174 positions available, 42 are available for SILN, consisting of 39 teachers and 3 education personnel. In addition, 132 positions are available for Permanent Educator CLC (Civil Service Center). Of these CLC positions, 112 are allocated for Sabah and 20 for Sarawak, Malaysia. These positions are part of an effort to maintain the continuity and improve the quality of educational services for Indonesian citizens abroad.
Secretary of the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Temu Ismail, emphasized that assignments to SILN and CLC require more than just teaching skills, but also a strong commitment to service in the world of education.
"Becoming a teacher at SILN and CLC requires competence, integrity, adaptability, resilience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to service. The diverse educational environment also provides a space for teachers to learn, broaden their horizons, and develop their competencies," said Temu Ismail during an online program socialization event on Wednesday (September 16).
Based on this, Temu Ismail emphasized that the selection process must be conducted objectively, transparently, and accountably, based on competency and needs. This is to ensure that the selected teachers are truly prepared to carry out their duties at SILN and CLC.
Meanwhile, Lukmanul Hakim, Head of the International Cooperation and Facilitation Section of the Planning and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, stated that the selected educators will gain various personal development opportunities during this assignment. These benefits include extensive international experience, opportunities for global interaction, and significant professional competency development.
Regarding welfare, Lukmanul explained that the honorarium is based on the Other Input Cost Unit (SBML) set by the Ministry of Finance. The honorarium varies in each country of placement, depending on the local cost of living, and includes living expenses, housing, social security , accident insurance, taxes, and overtime. The assignment period for non-civil servant teachers is two years and can be extended based on performance evaluation and school needs.
The 2026 selection focuses on prospective educators' readiness to face cross-cultural learning environments and assignment conditions that differ from those in domestic schools.
In addition, Nissa Apriliana, from the Cooperation Section, Setditjen GTK, explained that in general the requirements for applicants for SILN teachers and CLC Permanent Educators include: Indonesian citizen status, non-ASN status, and a maximum age of 45 years. Applicants must also meet the qualification and competency requirements according to the formation, have English language skills, and demonstrate integrity and eligibility to carry out assignments abroad. Documents of English proficiency can include a minimum TOEFL score of 450 or IELTS 5.0.
Specific requirements are also tailored to placement needs. Applicants for SILN teachers must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum GPA of 3.00. For placements in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Mecca, written and spoken Arabic language skills are required.
ICT teachers at SILN are primarily qualified to teach Coding and Artificial Intelligence (KKA), while Mathematics teachers at SILN Davao are primarily qualified to teach ICT/KKA. Culinary vocational teachers in Kota Kinabalu are required to have a linear competency certificate at least equivalent to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) Level 4.
The ability to teach across levels and subjects is also a key competency. This is crucial given the characteristics of SILN and CLC, which require educator flexibility in providing learning services.
For SILN education personnel, required competencies include experience in school administration, mastery of information technology, data management and Dapodik (School Data and Information System), and educational unit financial management. Applicants for the Head of School Administration position must also have at least two years of experience as a head of administration in a formal educational institution.
Registration will be open online from September 14 to October 2, 2026, at the official website gtk.kemendikdasmen.go.id/gtksilnclc/. All stages of the 2026 SILN and CLC selection process are free of charge, and each applicant can select only one available position based on their needs.
