Jakarta, September 15, 2026 — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to ensure that educational institutions in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions receive adequate educational facilities and infrastructure. This commitment is being realized, among other things, through the 2026 Educational Unit Revitalization Program at Afore Susua Private High School in South Nias Regency, North Sumatra.

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, said that the revitalization in 2026 is aimed at reaching schools in need of support, particularly in the 3T (frontier and remote) areas, schools with severe physical damage, and schools affected by disasters.

"We want to ensure that children, wherever they are, continue to have access to a decent place to learn. Therefore, this year's revitalization is focused on schools in the 3T (frontier and remote) areas, schools with severe physical damage, and schools affected by disasters," said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.

In South Nias Regency, the 2026 Educational Unit Revitalization Program targets 106 educational units with a total of approximately Rp118.7 billion in assistance. This assistance comprises Rp16.3 billion for 30 early childhood education (PAUD), Rp54.6 billion for 46 elementary schools, Rp34.7 billion for 18 junior high schools, Rp7.8 billion for six senior high schools, and Rp5.3 billion for six vocational high schools.

One of the educational institutions receiving this assistance is Afore Susua Private High School. In 2026, the school, located in Susua District, received Rp1,103,448,000 in revitalization assistance to renovate seven classrooms or a multipurpose room, along with furniture. To date, the revitalization project has reached 72 percent progress.

The principal of Afore Susua Private High School, Esti Jefriani Giawa, expressed her gratitude for the revitalization of her school. She stated that Afore Susua Private High School was the first school established in Susua District in 2006. The foundation established the school as a response to the limited access to high school education for children in the area.

"With a simple building and basic facilities, this school was built with the aim of helping the children of Susua District get a decent education and not be left behind by the developments of the times," said Esti.

Over the course of nearly two decades, Afore Susua Private High School has graduated nearly two thousand alumni who now contribute to the community. However, before the revitalization, several classrooms were in dire condition. The roofs were leaking, the ceilings were damaged, and the floors, windows, and doors were also in disrepair.

According to Esti, changes began to be visible after the revitalization process began. Previously damaged classrooms now appear sturdy, tidy, and more usable. Although construction is not yet complete, students and teachers are eager to move into the renovated classrooms.

"Our dream of having a decent building and proper facilities has come true in 2026 thanks to the revitalization program that has been provided at our school. I, on behalf of the academic community, teachers, education staff, all students, and parents, would like to express my gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for the assistance in the revitalization program that has been provided at our school," he said.*** (Author: Stephanie / Documentation: Team of the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, PNFI / Editor: Uly)
