Jakarta, July 9, 2026 – Opportunities for Indonesian teachers to improve their competencies are now more open. While training has often been hampered by distance, time, and travel costs, teachers from Sabang to Merauke can now learn directly from school or home through the Independent Training for Deep Learning, Coding, and Artificial Intelligence (PM-KKA), available on the Ruang GTK channel in the Rumah Pendidikan app. Through this digital platform, teachers can access learning modules, videos, and even provide material reinforcement with facilitators without having to leave the classroom. This step is part of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's (Kemendikdasmen) efforts to expand access to teacher competency development more equitably to achieve Quality Education for All. The PM-KKA Independent Training program was launched by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, at the Jakarta Provincial Teachers and Education Personnel Center (BGTK) on Thursday (July 9). In his remarks, Minister Mu'ti emphasized that teachers are agents of learning and civilization. Therefore, improving competency is crucial to supporting the development of professional teachers. "Teachers don't just teach to develop students' motor skills or abilities. However, the material taught must have values and direction that shape character. A great teacher isn't one who knows everything, but one who is willing to learn everything. Digitalization is the current, and the GTK Room is a place to improve teacher competency," added Minister Mu'ti. In her report, the Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Dirjen GTK) at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Nunuk Suryani, stated that the PM-KKA training, which began in 2025, is now being strengthened. While the initial phase focused on preparation and pilot projects, this year's primary focus is on strengthening subject-based implementation. This year's training also optimizes the role of Working Groups, such as the Teachers' Working Group (KKG) and Teachers' Working Groups (MGMP), as centers of learning innovation. "We want to ensure that the philosophy of Conscious, Meaningful, and Joyful Deep Learning is truly present in classrooms, not just a concept on paper," said Director General Nunuk. The 2026 PM-KKA training program is implemented through two main channels. First, the regular channel is conducted offline through a Working Group forum using the Teacher Experimental Training (TET) method. Through this approach, schools serve as learning laboratories, where teachers design solutions to real-life classroom challenges, practice them, and then conduct collective reflection with their colleagues. This channel utilizes the weekly Teacher Learning Day policy. Second, there's the online pathway through the Ruang GTK channel on the Rumah Pendidikan app. This pathway offers two forms of access. The first is the Independent Training feature, which allows teachers to learn independently anytime and anywhere through modules, learning videos, and material reinforcement by facilitators via webinars. The second form is Blended Training, accessed through a Learning Management System (LMS), designed for teachers who require more structured support. It combines independent learning in the LMS with material reinforcement with facilitators through webinars. By combining these two pathways, the 2026 PM-KKA training is targeted to reach more than 300,000 educators and education personnel from 140,000 educational units throughout Indonesia. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is committed to continuously expanding access to teacher competency development to ensure greater equity and quality. Through training, accessible both offline and online, it is hoped that teachers will master the conceptual foundations of PM-KKA, leading to improved learning quality, so that its benefits can be felt directly in classrooms across Indonesia.*** (Author: Team from the Directorate General of Teacher and Education (Setditjen GTK & Uly) (BKHM) / Photographer: Rayhan) Bureau of Communication and Public Relations Website: kemendikdasmen.go.id #QualityEducationforAll
