Deep Learning Prepares a Resilient Generation to Face the Digital Era

Batam, Riau Islands, June 28, 2026 – Technological advancements present both opportunities and challenges for the younger generation. Amidst the rapid digital transformation, technological mastery alone is no longer sufficient. Future generations also need the ability to think deeply, solve problems, collaborate, and adapt to increasingly rapid change.

Education plays a strategic role in preparing human resources who are not only academically proficient but also resilient in facing the dynamics of life. In line with this need, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to promote learning transformation through a Deep Learning approach, which utilizes meaningful, reflective, and relevant learning processes to address real-world challenges.

This message was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat, when giving a public lecture on the theme of International Law and its Challenges in the Digital Era in Batam, Riau Islands, some time ago.

According to the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, digital transformation has transformed nearly every aspect of life, from social interactions and economic activities to global governance. These changes have also given rise to various new issues, such as cybersecurity, personal data protection, transnational crime, and the use of artificial intelligence, which require an understanding of law, ethics, and cross-border collaboration.

"Technological development is currently occurring very rapidly. Therefore, the younger generation must have the ability to continuously learn, adapt, think critically, and understand the various impacts of digital technology development," he said.

He added that education must be able to shape students who not only master knowledge, but also have strong character, creativity, critical reasoning skills, and the ability to make responsible decisions.

This spirit is the foundation for strengthening Deep Learning, which the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is currently promoting. Through this approach, students are encouraged to understand concepts holistically, connect learning to everyday life, and develop higher-order thinking skills to address increasingly complex problems.
The Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education also reminded that every activity in the digital space has legal, ethical, and responsibility consequences that must be understood from an early age. Therefore, digital literacy must go hand in hand with character building and critical thinking skills.

"I want to emphasize that international law should not be an artifact of the past, but must continue to evolve and be able to respond to the global challenges facing society today and in the future," he stressed.*** (Author: Bayu Pratama/Photographer: Raja)
