Jakarta, January 20, 2026 — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through the Education Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency (BSKAP) officially opened registration for the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for Elementary School/Islamic Elementary School/equivalent and Junior High School/Islamic Junior High School/equivalent levels in 2026. TKA registration is open from January 19 to February 28, 2026 and can be taken by students at educational units that meet the requirements, namely having a valid NISN.

The implementation of the TKA is part of the government's effort to provide a standardized, objective, and credible assessment instrument to measure student academic achievement at the elementary education level. The TKA results are expected to be widely utilized by educational institutions, parents, and other educational stakeholders.

The Head of BSKAP, Toni Toharudin, emphasized that the opening of TKA registration is the first step in the 2026 TKA implementation series. "The opening of TKA registration for elementary and junior high schools is an important momentum for educational institutions to prepare for a more planned assessment implementation. The TKA is designed as a fair and standardized instrument to reflect students' academic abilities," he said.

Following the registration phase, the 2026 TKA recruitment process will continue with simulations, dress rehearsals, and the main event. The TKA simulation for junior high school students is scheduled for February 23 to March 1, 2026, while the elementary school simulation will take place from March 2 to 8, 2026. The dress rehearsal will then take place from March 9 to 17, 2026.

The main implementation of the TKA is scheduled for April 6-16, 2026 for junior high school level and April 20-30, 2026 for elementary school level. For educational units that are unable to participate in the main implementation, the Ministry of Education and Culture provides an opportunity for a follow-up implementation on May 11-19, 2026. The processing of the results will be carried out on May 20-24, 2026, with the announcement of the TKA results nationally on May 25, 2026.

Furthermore, Toni urged educational institutions to immediately register and prepare all technical aspects of the implementation. "We encourage educational institutions to make the most of this registration period, ensuring the readiness of data, infrastructure, and technical understanding so that the implementation of the TKA can run smoothly and optimally," he added.

In conjunction with the opening of foreign worker registration for 2026, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has also issued a Circular from the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Secondary Education concerning the New Student Admissions System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. This circular serves as a reference for regional governments and educational units in preparing and implementing all stages of the SPMB in an orderly, transparent, and accountable manner.

The Circular Letter emphasizes that TKA results can be used in the academic achievement pathway as a basis for selecting new students, particularly at the junior high and senior high school levels. This provision aims to provide a more objective, standardized, and fair selection mechanism and reduce reliance on varying assessments across educational units.

With the issuance of this Circular from the Director General of Early Childhood Education (PAUD Dasmen), the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, through the BSKAP (National Education and Training Agency), urges local governments and educational units to ensure integration between the implementation of the TKA and the SPMB stages for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education also encourages parents to actively support student participation in the TKA implementation as one of the bases for selection through the academic achievement pathway in the SPMB.

Through support from local governments, educational institutions, and parents, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education hopes to optimize student participation in the TKA (Teaching and Vocational High School) so that the results of the TKA (Teaching and Vocational High School) achievement pathway can be utilized fairly and transparently. This synergy is expected to increase public trust in the government's selection system, which aims to achieve quality education for all.
